What a name! Ram + Allah = Ramallah
Ram, the great Hindu god and Allah, the Islam icon in one place!! I was surprised to hear and see such a name. Yasser Arafat is buried in this place yesterday. The number of people with guns in the final procession of this funeral just amazed me. I can imagine how Palestine is now.
But the more important thot I got (and I researched on it a bit yesterday) is "Where was Ram from?" Was he an Arabic? There is no meaning for the words Ram, Lakshman, Hanuman in Sanskrit or in any language I know. May be I am wrong. I checked the Sanskrit dictionary oly to find Rama - son of Dasarata, Hindu God.
How did these names originate? How did Ramallah became a city in the west asia?
